The new TownHall houses the new municipal offices, community rooms, Public Library and Council Chambers for the community of Cornwall.
The brick and metal siding are reminiscent of the New England influence in the region, and the metal roof recalls the agricultural heritage and roots of Cornwall.
Highlights of the design include energy efficient and durable design with eligibility for grants from the Canadian Building Incentives Program (CBIP) and enrollment in the Green Globes Protocol program.
An exciting project, MacKay Lyons Sweetapple Architects designed this new public space with North 46 Architecture Inc for students to exchange ideas and lead the province in research and development. The project has provided 50 000 sf of new auditorium, classroom and meeting space and 14 000 sf of renovations converting a dormitory into much needed new office and administrative space.
The Charlottetown Airport authority selected North 46 Architecture to work with them to modernize and increase the size of the departures lounge to accommodate increasing air passenger traffic. The security conscious addition to existing departures lounge, provides additional passenger waiting areas, a café, new barrier free washrooms and an additional departures gate.
North 46 Architecture worked with the Charlottetown Airport Authority to accommodate it's increasing international traffic and passengers with the design of the new Arrivals and Customs processing addition. Approximately 49 000 sf, the bright and spacious space houses a new arrivals lounge, primary and secondary inspection processing stations, baggage claim, cashiers, customs security offices and storage spaces.
